Zoiks! Anyway, take a look at our picks, which we toiled over for some time. It's beyond our wildest dreams, actually. The point is that 2001 is shaping up to be a great year, one that is even better than we expected. Games such as The Getaway and F1, well, we have yet to play those titles, so we simply cannot say yet. What about those SCEA games, they haven't been announced? We made an exception with Dropship, Airblade, and Wipeout Fusion because we are quite sure they are planned for the US market this fall, and we have played them. It's hard to argue that a game is a must-have title if you haven't played it, right? ) What about Red Faction, Twisted Metal: Black, and NBA Street? In case it wasn't too obvious, we already like those, and have reviewed them. (We're hoping they're good, but we don't know yet. What about Sega's NFL 2K2 and NBA 2K2? We haven't seen or played them yet - they weren't at E3 in playable form. You may ask where is Final Fantasy X, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Dead to Rights, or TimeSplitters 2? They're not due until next year, 2002. We realize that many games didn't make this list, but our criteria were quite strict and simple: 1) These are games that we have played and know 2) they're scheduled to arrive in 2001 3) and they are great, must-have titles in one way or another. In an order to clarify the sharp tenor of this year - the year that many an "analyst" said they would be looking forward to last year - we have compiled what we believe are the 28 best games for PlayStation 2 in the year 2001. Based on our hands-on play-time with these games, we feel that these are all Triple-A, must-have games. We judged them based on a few factors: fun, depth, originality, and/or technical prowess. The titles we have selected are the best potential games of this year. Yes, that's a tall order indeed, but there really isn't much with which to argue, especially after you look at the list we have compiled.
